Guy Fawkes Night is a very British celebration. It celebrates a failed attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament (that’s where Big Ben is) in London. This was probably one of the first examples of terrorism, only it didn’t work.

the National Assembly = 국회 (프랑스 하원)

2. only = "접속사 = 단(지) ~이기는 하지만(~하지 않다면/ ~만 아니라면)"의 의미로 사용되었다.
예) I'd love to come, only I have to work. (내가 일만 없다면 꼭 가고 싶어요.)
